This fine motor center focuses on building CVC words using “topple” blocks (Jenga style) and beginning sounds.
Perfect for your future engineers!
This year I have been working with our occupational therapist during our Guided Reading block to support our first graders. I have learned so much about turning our literacy word work into developmentally appropriate activities! It has had a tremendously positive impact on my students' progress in both academics and fine motor, but don't tell them…they are too busy “playing!”
Students build CVC words using their phonemic awareness (beginning sounds), phonics (finding the letter block), and fine motor skills.
There are 36 CVC words cards (plus answers) included in this center. Students have the added option of using one of the recording pages (there are four formats included). I insert the pages into plastic sleeves to use with a dry erase marker.
No Jenga blocks? No problem! This CVC hands-on center can easily be set up with your favorite letter tiles or manipulatives.
I hope your students love them as much as mine do!
