Want me to let you in on one of my best kept secrets for building strong relationships with my students? Positive sticky notes!

Yep. You heard that correctly – one small piece of paper can make the biggest impact in your classroom. So grab the closest pad of sticky notes and check out these ideas…

We all know that sticky notes are useful for jotting down reminders, but did you know that they can also be used to brighten up your special education classroom?

6 Creative Ideas to Use Positive Sticky Notes

Positive Affirmations

Print out some of your favorite motivational quotes or encouraging words and have them ready to pass out when you notice a student needs a little extra positivity that day. One of my favorite things to do is place them on a student's desk so that when they get to school the next morning they’re met with a happy little surprise!

Mirror Messages

I'm sure you've seen this idea all over the internet – create a positive affirmation mirror that students can visit for a quick pick-me-up (you may even want to print out a few for your own bathroom mirror!).

Showcase Student Work

Let your students know that you're proud of their hard work by putting their papers up on the bulletin board with a positive sticky note message attached. This will not only boost their confidence, but it will also motivate them to continue doing their best work.

Positive Affirmation Wall Display

Make a positive affirmation wall! Print out the positive quotes and post them around the classroom. Every day, have students choose a positive message to take home with them!

Holiday Treat

As a teacher, you probably are already planning some fun goodie bags or treats throughout the school year. Why not add a little fun with a holiday themed sticky note? It's a great way to spread some holiday cheer. Simply print out some cute pumpkins or a silly little leprechaun and your holiday treat is ready to go!

Random Act of Kindness

Teach your students how to pass on positive notes to others! Let students choose their favorite happy notes and brighten someone else’s day. They could give them to a fellow student, a favorite staff member or if you teach older students, encourage them to leave the notes on lockers or bathroom mirrors. The possibilities are endless!

We all know that sticky notes are useful for jotting down reminders, but did you know that they can also be used to brighten up your special education classroom?
