Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett is such a crowd-pleaser. I can't wait to share how my first grade students explored this favorite read aloud!

In our first grade intervention groups, we enjoyed two read aloud books every day – one in the morning and another in the afternoon (a nice calming activity after recess).

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a bit longer than many of our books, so we actually split this between the morning and afternoon. My students didn't mind a bit though – they were on the edge of their seats (actually carpet spots) to find out what was going to happen next in the town of Chewandswallow!

The fun doesn't stop after the last page and the learning definitely doesn't either! Check out these hands-on activities based on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:

Every week, we introduce a new sensory bin center. This is a chance for our students to “dig in” to the story vocabulary, mentor sentence, story elements, and more!

Take a closer look:

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Sensory Bin Story is a printable set of task cards and teacher guide that walks you through the steps of adding this center to your small reading groups!

Check out the guide here – have fun with this fantastic book!
